THE SHUTTERED ROOM 1967 movie review...

THE SHUTTERED ROOM 1967 - this film is a bizarre oddity that on many levels doesnt really hang together. But despite this it has wonderful elements, not least the casting of Flora Robson as deranged old matriarch living in an echoing deserted lighthouse. Oliver Reed strides around being menacing and sexy and carol lynley is fragile and monroe like. Most memorable ( perhaps more than the film as a whole ) for me is the plangent, striking opening music by Basil Kirchen played over a tracking shot of Lynsey's face through a car windscreen of multiple reflections - one of my favourite credit rolls of any film.
