Something in the Blood movie review

We don't do movie related book recommendations near enough on M4, and I'd like to rectify that by highly praising author David J. Skal's marvelous biography of Dracula author Bram Stoker, Something in the Blood: The Man Who Wrote Dracula. This may well be the best Stoker bio to date. One of the things I really love is how very much Skal sees Stoker from the perspective of the mid to late 19th century. Too often key figures of the past are looked at with our modern eyes and mores. We get a lot of the people and events of his time that informed Stoker as a man and as the creator of one of the most enduring literary/movie monsters of all time. And it just gets better and better as it moves along and is LOADED with great photos and illustrations. I also has very detailed information on the many adaptations of Dracula over the years. Don't miss it
