Javed Afridi announces to promote grooming talent in KP, Fata
PESHAWAR: Owner of Peshawar Zalmi, a Champion of Pakistan Super League (PSL-2017) Javed Afridi has announced to make a Sports Foundation to promote the grooming talent in Tribal areas and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Addressing a “Meet the Press” programme organized by Peshawar Press Club (PPC) on Monday, he said that the laurel of being PSL champion was to bring prosperity on the faces of the people of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), who he added had been suffering from miseries and agonies.
Flanked by noted anchorperson, Saleem Safi, team coach Muhammad Akram, he said credit goes to the entire nation of Pakistan for giving warm welcome to the PSL final particularly people of FATA and KP.
He also gave credit to international players to participate in the mega final without feeling any hesitation. “Foreign players were also interest to give pleasure to Pakistanis by playing in Lahore after convincing them for fully secured”, he added that his intention was not confined to cricket only to continue his mission for the masses.
The glorification and laurels of Pakistan Super League was a dream for me, which fulfilled by the efforts Shahid Khan Afridi and me (Javed Afridi), he told.
Responding to queries, the owner of PSL said that if Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) handed over Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium to him, it would be renovate and make it at international level again. He informed that the team players did not back out of balding their heads if they won the final, they would do it after performing Umrah (Pilgrimage).
Coach Muhammad Akram said that they had started journey of such a mega event (PSL) two years back at Army Public School (APS) aimed to provide cheerfulness to all the children affected in the tragedy.
He said that credit goes Javed and Shahid Afridi for wonderful performance for winning the trophy, who he added had wishes to bring laurels to the people of FATA and KP. On the occasion, Saleem Safi clarified that he was not official companion of Peshawar Zalmi but just to applaud the players of the team. “The winning of Zalmi was victory of the whole nation. President PPC gave congratulation to Javed Afridi, coach Muhammad Akram and the players to become PSL champion. He also made worn cultural turban to them and presented souvenir.
