Explosives, arms seized in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: Capital city police have seized high power explosives, huge quantity of arms during a raid in provincial capital and apprehended an accused here on Friday.
Police source said that high officials had received information that huge quantity of arms and ammunitions exist at a house in the limits of police station Chamkani which would be smuggled to other districts for attack any time.
A police team formed under the supervision of SSP operations Sajjad Khan, headed by SP Rural Furqan Bilal, DSP Chamkani Abdul Salam Khalid, Station House Officer Hamayun Khan of police station Chamkani and others officials.
Speaking at a press conference, SSP (operations) Sajjad Khan said that on a tip-off, a police team raided on a house situated at City Home, and recovered 24 guns (12 bore), 21 pistols (30 bore), 7100 cartridges of different bore, 13 butt (12 bore) and 76 magazines, the police also arrested an accused named as Ayub son of Zareef resident of Laki Marwat presently in city home and started interrogation.
The SSP said while in other enquiry, the police seized one IED, 25 kilograms of explosives, prima card, fuse and 34 hand grenades which had hidden under flour at Shahpur area and foiled a bid of terrorism. The explosives were to used in terrorism activities at provincial metropolitan.
